Google New Look !

Finally Google changed it's look appearance of search result pages.
Google colors also changed so emphasized blue color heavily.Google has added an additional column in the left site of the search results page showing options to select relating to every searches.

It also seems that it works on intelligence basis. If your search related to many images then you can see 'search images' option in left sidebar. If a search more related to news then 'search news' option appears.

One of the great feature added to the Google search result page is 'Real time search'. people some times does not want to search old data. But google search pages in past mostly showed old results of searches. However people now can choose at what time their searches should came.

• Any time
• ›Latest
• Past 24 hours
• Past week
• Past year
• ›Custom range..

The new look seems working fine and it eases the online search of people by reducing search time and providing up to date information by integrating real time search.

Block Flash in Google Chrome

Flash objects are used by many web sites to present interactive content to their users.
However Flash contents are always slows down loading time of web pages and it is really annoying if you using slow internet connection. Firefox has a better flash block extension and now Google chrome too has an extension that you can block flash content of web pages.

Download flash block for Google Chrome.

Note: Before downloading any extensions to Google chrome, you have to upgrade Chrome to beta version (12/2009) if not yet upgraded. Then you can install chrome extensions from the Chrome extension page it self.

My Review:
Easy to install and no need to restart the browser after installation. (common advantage of all Chrome extensions)
It works fine so far and seems as best as the extension for Firefox.
Rate: 9/10.

Cuil, The new big search engine challenging Google

A big new search engine launched today, The Cuil. Developed and run by the husband-and-wife team of Stanford professor Tom Costello and former Google search architect Anna Patterson,
They says that the engine is launching with 120 billion pages indexed.
Cuil is bigger, faster, and better than Google's search engine in every way, Costello said to webware.

Costello also claims that Cuil's Web crawler is three times faster than Google's.

This is an image taken from Cuil search results page for the google.
You will see why Cuil is different from
Google at the first look of their earch result page.

One important difference between Cuil and Google is its ranking system. Rather than assigning priority to pages based on inbound links as Google does ("Pagerank"), Cuil analyzes the content of Web pages to divine their relevance to a search query. Costello said Cuil's search is "contextual," and that, "we're trying to understand the real world, not the Web."
(are you remember what google said few days ago !)

When you search for a common name, for example, Cuil will give you a categorized results under tabs. It will also break out sub-topics related to each name. If you search for "Google," there are different tabs for "Google" and all other related things with Google.
Cuil says these categorization and adding more info to search page, will add value to Cuil.

However Some important industrial features are still absent from Cuil, like image search etc.
Cuil browser toolbar, and widgets are coming soon.

The other thing is Google has not indexed the Cuil yet.

We will see in next few how Google respond to the newly emerged buddy.
